Terms of Service
Effective date: July 17, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of ReadAgain, operated by John Frenking as an individual. By creating an account or using ReadAgain, you agree to these Terms.
1. Description of Service
ReadAgain is a book recommendation app. It builds a "Reading DNA" profile from information you provide about books you've loved, and uses that profile — along with AI-generated analysis — to recommend books and generate related content (e.g., detailed rationale for a recommendation).
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use ReadAgain. By using the app, you confirm you meet this requirement.
3. Account Registration & Security
You sign in via Google OAuth. You're responsible for maintaining the security of the Google account linked to your ReadAgain account. Notify us if you believe your account has been accessed without authorization.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use ReadAgain for any unlawful purpose
- Attempt to access, scrape, or interfere with the service or its underlying systems beyond normal use
- Impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity
- Interfere with other users' use of the service
- Attempt to circumvent rate limits or abuse the AI features to generate harmful, illegal, or abusive output
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
5. AI-Generated Content & Limitations
Your Reading DNA profile, book recommendations, and related detail content are generated using AI (the Anthropic Claude API) based on the information you provide. This means:
- AI-generated content may be inaccurate, incomplete, or not reflect your actual preferences
- Recommendations are informational and personalized using AI — they may not reflect your actual preferences or be accurate in every case, and are not professional advice of any kind
- You should use your own judgment when deciding what to read based on ReadAgain's output
Subject to these Terms, you may use and share the Reading DNA summaries and recommendations generated for your personal account for your own personal, non-commercial purposes.
6. Intellectual Property
The ReadAgain app, its design, and its underlying code and branding belong to John Frenking. Content you submit (onboarding responses, notes, feedback) remains yours. By submitting it, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to use, store, and process that content solely to operate and improve the service for you — including sending relevant portions to third-party AI providers as described in the Privacy Policy. We do not publish, sell, or redistribute your submitted content, and this license ends when you delete the associated content or your account.
7. Third-Party Services
ReadAgain relies on third-party service providers (see Privacy Policy, Section 5) to operate. We aren't responsible for outages, errors, or issues originating from these providers' systems.
7a. Modifications to the Service
We may modify, update, or discontinue any part of ReadAgain at any time, with or without notice.
8. Termination
You may delete your account at any time via Settings. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, at our discretion.
9. Disclaimer of Warranties
ReadAgain is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We don't guarantee the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that recommendations will meet your expectations.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, ReadAgain and its operator are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, including but not limited to data loss or service interruption.
11. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms as ReadAgain evolves. Continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
